Dr. Rachael Webb is a freelance clarinetist and music educator based in Daphne, Alabama and currently serves as an Adjunct Instructor of Music at the University of Mobile, where she teaches applied clarinet and woodwind pedagogy. Throughout her doctoral studies at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, she served as the Graduate Teaching Assistant in Clarinet, teaching private lessons and academic courses in clarinet pedagogy to undergraduate and graduate students. Dr. Webb’s doctoral research project, a guide and annotated bibliography of clarinet methods, provides clarinet pedagogues with information regarding standard method books to assist them in choosing appropriate teaching materials for beginner, intermediate, and advanced students.
In addition to collegiate teaching, Dr. Webb has taught privately for over ten years and currently has a thriving private studio. Her students have been selected for various festivals and ensembles which include Alabama Music Educators Association (AMEA) festivals, Ohio Music Educators Association (OMEA) festivals, the National Association for Music Education (NAfME) National Band, the Cincinnati Symphony Youth Orchestra, and the Cincinnati Youth Wind Ensemble. Her students have also been accepted into prestigious universities and conservatories, including the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and Florida State University. Dr. Webb has also served as a clinician at various high schools and colleges throughout Pennsylvania, Ohio, Kentucky, and Alabama.
As a performer, Dr. Webb is sought out as an orchestral and chamber musician and has most recently performed with the Pensacola Symphony Orchestra and the Kentucky Symphony Orchestra. She was selected as a finalist for the 2019 International Clarinet Association Orchestral Audition Competition and placed amongst the top four finalists. She also performed as a soloist at the 2021 ClarinetFest Conference.
Dr. Webb holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree and a Master of Music degree from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, as well as a Bachelor of Music degree from the Pennsylvania State University. She has studied clarinet with Christopher Pell, Ralph Skiano, Ronald Aufmann, Dr. Anthony J. Costa, and Dr. Deborah Andrus.
Dr. Webb performs exclusively on Buffet Crampon clarinets.
